Cultural
Enrichment Committee
Do you have an interest in the arts- music, poetry, painting,
dance, drawing, theatre, and sculpture? Do you think it's important
for children to be exposed to arts, artists and different cultures
at a young age? If you answered "yes" to either question, please
join the Cultural Enrichment Committee. Please contact Julie Finn
at 874-0326 to become involved.
Programs
Committee
The Programs Committee plan 4 or 5 school-wide events each year,
which could include family fun nights, speakers, workshops or
newsletters. Our goal is for each event to be a fun, informative
way for families to connect, either by volunteering for or by
attending these events. Please contact Stacie McClintock at 939-8268
to become involved. The Program committee is also co-chaired by
Liane Topchik and Michele Lawless.
Library
Committee
This committee directly supports the activities of the library.
Committee members work with our School library media specialist
on library programming, including author and illustrator visits,
an annual week long Poetry Festival in conjunction with Henry
Wadsworth Longfellow's birthday in February, and the Maine Student
Book Award program for students in grades 4 and 5. Our first Book
Fair this fall will be hosted by Longfellow Books and held on
November 6-7. Please contact Meg Rooks at 773-5761 to become involved.
Auction
Committee
This committee organizes and implements the Longfellow Auction,
our largest fundraiser of the year. Expertise or interest in soliciting
donations, advertising, event planning is a great help on the
Auction Committee, however, we welcome all and any who would like
to participate. Please contact Jen
Judd-McGee or Jen Tabb@maine.rr.com.
Public
Issues Committee
Informs the Longfellow community about educational and budget
issues at the city and state level as they affect Longfellow School.
FMI or to join, email Jonathan
Nolan or phone him at 772-5024.
Clubs and
Classes Program

during alternate lunch times or after school. Do you have a special
skill or talent to share, such as a craft, foreign language or
yoga? We'd love to hear from you! Please contact Barb Stoddard
at 773-0181 or bstod@maine.rr.com.
